Reliability Engineering Director

Position Summary:

Direct Reports:  4 – 7 direct reports, including matrix reports
 
OVERVIEW
The position is responsible for designing, implementing and supporting reliability programs for material handling, robotic and base building systems. Provide leadership to Center of Excellence (COE) team to measure program effectiveness, system performance and account deliverables to client. Also provide field technical support and administer centralized operations activities. 
 
The role will provide thought guidance and team leadership to realize performance of the three central tenets of the COE:

  • Increase system uptime and availability
  • Decrease or eliminate lost production hours
  • Increase the throughput in a building beyond initial design
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Lead the engineering and reliability team to create high performing systems while extending lifecycles.
  • Shape reliability programs through a deep understanding of failure modes, frequencies and counter measures.
  • Develop business intelligence systems where deep statistical analytics result in complete and predictable uptime, proper resource deployment, return on investment and asset lifecycle maximization.
  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise and thought-leadership to the account to support improvements in reliability, service delivery, performance, and problem management as required.
  • Maintain and support a Critical Environment Management program reflecting client requirements and industry best practices.
  • Oversee and develop Quarterly and Monthly Business Reviews (MBR/ QBR) with client.
  • Manage controls program for conveyance equipment including Rockwell/ AB RSLogix5000, Warehouse Management Systems, OEM operating systems and equipment typical in a manufacturing and distribution operation.
 
MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT
  • Develop and institute best-in-class maintenance management practices across the client’s portfolio.
  • Establish equipment maintenance plans to ensure timely and proper systems upkeep to optimize system availability and continuous operation
  • Implementation and management of the computerized maintenance management systems in accordance with JLL and client expectations.
  • Overseeing use of consistent maintenance management key performance indicator reporting and QBR program.
  • Identify risks to client facilities and eliminate downtime and specifically create a program to affect system uptime.
  • Establish team as the internal “go-to” for the client and account team needing support.  May rely on Technical Services/Engineering Services, outside contractors, consultants or internal networking for technical support.
  • Administer/manage the JLL Engineering Services Compliance Program.
  • Conduct all activities with a focus on cost savings and increase in reliability.  Research and implement innovative cost reduction programs.
 
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Undergraduate degree in relevant Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field.
  • Masters in Reliability Engineering, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering, preferred.
  • Direct experience in developing and administering Reliability Centered Maintenance programs.
  • Minimum 10 years of direct supervision of large geographic and multi-building operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing systems, conveyance, robotic, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression system in commercial/critical facilities.
 
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSESB
  • Candidate must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license.

  • Demonstrated organization skills and collaborative management style.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate well in both oral and written reports.
  • Successful candidate must be self-motivated who can work independently or on a team and in a high pressure environment.
  • Ability to comply with both JLL and client-directed Policies & Procedures.
 
TRAVEL
  • Ability to travel 10% - 25%
