This PAID internship for college students offers hands-on experience in a wholesale/retail work environment and can lead to career opportunities in management and/or professional outside sales upon graduation. You will have the opportunity to learn basic store operations, and develop sales techniques and customer service skills, as well as increase knowledge in a variety of key business topics as seen below:

 

Sales
a. In conjunction with Lowes Sales Service Reps, the Intern will conduct sales calls to end users such as residential repainters, remodlers, property maintenance managers & local home builders (approximately 30%) to increase the pro-paint sales. 
b. Establish strong selling relationships with store associates, store management and other district managers
c. Continually promote and represent the brand and product strengths to Lowes associates, customers/contractors discerning competitive advantage and competitor’s weaknesses. 
d. With the Sales Service Reps, utilize the Customer Resource Management (CRM) system to document sales calls and store visits.  In conjunction with the Sales Service Reps, gather and document competitor intelligence information in the CRM.  
e. In conjunction with the Sales Service Reps, conduct contractor events to promote products and to increase sales
f.  In conjunction with the Sales Service Reps, ensuring promotions, pricing & signage is set appropriately in each store.

 

Training
a. In conjunction with the Sales Service Reps, conduct product knowledge (PK) training sessions for current and newly hired Lowes associates.  Training should include features, benefits as well as selling skills and may include a demo of the products.  Products include (Purdy, Minwax, Thompson’s Waterseal, White Lightning, DIY Paint, Contractor Paint).
b. In conjunction with the Sales Service Reps, conduct sales training to current and newly hired Lowes associates.
c. In conjunction with the Sales Service Reps, promotional Display training to Lowes associates.
d. In conjunction with the Sales Service Reps, HGTV Color Collection training & feature benefits training for Lowes associates.  Training should include how to conduct a “color conversation” with customers.
e. In conjunction with the Sales Service Reps, train store associate on equipment (i.e. tinting machines). 

 

Service
o In conjunction with the Sales Service Reps, respond to and resolve product/service/inventory issues at the store level.
o Assist store associates with tinting/mixing paint as needed.
o Department review of all SW products.  Review all products on shelf to ensure products are fully stocked and properly displayed.  Replace defected products (dents, labels, etc.).

o Merchandising / Color Collateral / Displays
o Maintain store signage, merchandising displays, color chip and color card stock.
o In conjunction with the Sales Service Reps, ordering inventory of collateral to ensure inventory is stocked.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have a valid Driver's License.
- Must be enrolled in an accredited four year college or university.
- Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status.
- Must be willing to work all scheduled hours which may include evenings and weekends, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to retrieve material from shelves and floor stacks and lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to operate material handling equipment (e.g. hand truck, pallet jack, forklift, etc.).
- Must be able to tint paint, therefore, must be able to distinguish the difference between colors.
- Must be able to operate a computer and communicate via the telephone.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
