Sr Member of Technical Staff-Mobility Packet Core Platforms

This position will be responsible for analyzing and reviewing product requirements provided by product development and marketing, to prepare matching architecture solutions for the AT&T Mobility Packet Core platforms. The candidate must understand 3GPP packet core networks and primarily the systems that support them; DNS, RADIUS, OCG and MIPS .

 

The candidate’s primary function will be the primary face of the National Packet Core Support System team. This will require a strong skills and abilities in two areas; 1) leading and guiding multiple platforms and the experts that manage

and design those systems; and 2) develop a strong in understand of the individual platforms and their interaction with outside systems.

 

Additionally this candidate will be responsible for end to end architecture planning and road mapping of platform architecture, features and functions by working closely with Marketing, Product Realization, Data Service Strategy,

Standards teams and various technology vendors. The candidate will participate in new technology development and determine how these future technologies should interface with nearer-term engineering initiatives.

 

The candidate will identify required system functionality, current and future platform capabilities, and cost/performance tradeoffs, and facilitates new technology transfer to meet strategic business needs. The candidate will identify

opportunities to extend existing/emerging technologies and/or invent new technologies to meet anticipated network, business needs and application requirements at service level. The candidate will perform technology scans, feasibility analysis, prototype or proof of concept development, requirement definitions, network design, and network optimization.

 

The candidate will also work with other product teams, Network Engineering/Operations teams, and IT teams following the AT&T process for project implementation and ongoing platform support including feature roadmap. The candidate will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a highly professional working relationship with vendors.

 

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree or higher degree such as Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Mathematics from an accredited university. 
  • PhD in an approved field with no minimum years of relevant experience or Masters in an approved field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or a Bachelors in an approved field with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

  • The qualified candidate must have 4 years’ experience in IP networking or Wireless technologies working on architecture design, system and network applications and deployment.
  • Must have strong writing and verbal skills to succinctly convey complex and intricate technical concepts and solutions and be team oriented as well as self reliant.

 What Makes You Stand Out:

  • Understanding of DNS, RADIUS, and a variety of support systems.
  • Experience with UNIX and LINUX based systems and virtual application design and implementation.
  • IP network strategy knowledge kand large data center network designs which support mobile IP products and services
  • Possess an intrinsic understanding of communications and data networking protocols, parameters and interfaces (Gn, Gi,Gp, Ga).
  • Working knowledge of GPRS/EDGE, UMTS, LTE & IMS wireless packet data networks and the core data nodes: GGSN, SGW, PGW, PCRF, RADIUS, DNS, Routers, etc.
  • Data network architecture experience desired: Ethernet, WLANs, VLAN implementation, IP routing, IP switching, firewalls, QoS implementation, etc.
  • Provide technical leadership to multiple concurrent projects and provide timely status reports
  • Promptly respond to incoming requests for new services or changes to existing services
  • Provide high-level and detailed written architectures.
