Sr Member of Technical Staff- EPC Policy Platform Architecture

The AT&T Labs Policy Platform Design team seeks qualified, highly motivated, technical-minded people ready to join a dynamic and experienced team.  We are responsible for the systems and applications which enable policy treatment for the national AT&T Mobility data network. Your primary job responsibilities are to develop solutions to meet business needs, solve technical problems and issues of complex scope, and impart subject matter expertise to peer groups, using advanced engineering and scientific principles. The ideal candidate is an effective communicator, a technical thought leader with excellent analytical & problem-solving skills, and able to work independently, all while actively contributing to AT&T’s technology evolution.
 
The Sr. Member of Technical Staff develops solutions to complex business and technical problems or issues of complex scope using advanced engineering and scientific principles.
 
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
·         Applies engineering principles and practice in broad areas of complex technical project work that requires in-depth analysis using advanced techniques, knowledge, and expertise.
·         Provides technical expertise within project teams.
·         Seasoned technical professional. Contributes through proven technical expertise. Has significant dept/functional impact.
 
 
 
o   KNOWLEDGE - SME within own discipline/specialty area; basic knowledge of other disciplines/specialty areas. Deep technical knowledge. Applies in-depth knowledge of discipline/specialty area standards/processes. Integrates industry experience and deep professional/technical knowledge. Technical leader and recognized expert on select ATT technologies/systems/procedures.
 
o   ANALYSIS/PROBLEM SOLVING - Solves unique problems through evaluative judgment/precedent. Independently applies sophisticated analysis in evaluating issues. Develops new concepts/methods/techniques for cross-functional initiatives. Recognizes/pursues alternative methods.
 
o   INDEPENDENCE - Guided by department goals/objectives. Exercises latitude in determining objectives/approaches to projects. Leads multiple small to medium sized projects and technical breadth.
 
o   CONTRIBUTION TO ATT TECHNOLOGY - Key contributor on complex projects/initiatives. Impacts current and future business opportunities through application of specialized technical/industry knowledge. Develops methods/techniques based on strategic project objectives.
 
o   COMMUNICATION - Mentors and provides technical guidance and explains advanced concepts to others in work area. Coordinates across multiple departments. Promotes active listening and open communication. Provides leadership/guidance to others.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree or higher degree such as Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or Mathematics from an accredited university. 
  • PhD in an approved field with no minimum years of relevant experience or Masters in an approved field with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or a Bachelors in an approved field with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.

  • In-depth understanding of virtualization concepts; SDN, Openstack, etc.
  • Strong background in programming & application development in a Linux environment.
  • Experience with Linux/UNIX systems administration a plus.
